Castings - Low alloy steel electrodes which are used to produce welds having mechanical strength properties equal to those of the base steel grades are usually satisfactory regardless of differences in the chemical composition, provided the response to heat treatment, if any, is comparable.
With some steels post heating between 595 and 6800°C may result in cracking unless it is preceded by first post heating at 316°C.
