Murex Test -
Two plates representing steel samples are welded by being held in fixtures. The two plates can be rotated with respect to each other, at various speeds, i.e., at various rates of strain during the solidification of weld metal. Whether a metal is susceptible to hot cracking or not, is judged by the extent to which the weld metal cracks at various rates of strain during solidification.
