Cold Welding Equipment and Applications - For cold welding, pressure may be applied using
(i)Punch presses,
(ii) Rollers (as in rolling),
(iii) Static loads (manual or power).
The length of time during which pressure is applied is not critical and has little effect on weld strength. Satisfactory welds may be produced with either an impact blow or
slow squeeze.
Applications of Cold Welding
(i) Cold welding is used for cladding and joining many similar and dissimilar metals.
(ii) It is particularly useful in welding metals in explosive areas.
(iii) It is used to assemble small transistors where welding heat might cause damage.
(iv) It is used to join wires when they break during drawing operation.
