Resistance Welding Maintenance

Resistance Welding Maintenance -
Once a week Inspect control box electrical connections. Clean electrode holders and clamps and clean exterior of welder. Use carbon tetrachloride for machine cleaning; it does not attack copper. DO NOT use gasoline.
Clean dirt and dust from transformer with a low pressure (25 psi or less) air hose or a vacuum cleaner. Never allow dirt and dust to accumulate in the transformer, because you may have a serious burnout.
Reduce noise from transformers by tightening core bolts and weldings. Stop operating welders with noisy transformers as soon as they are discovered, because chafing may ruin insulation and cause costly burnouts.
Once a Month Reverse flush cooling system to wash out dirt and rust particles. Check entire air system for leaks, faulty regulating valves and controls.
Clean foot switch, tube sockets, Cables and ventilating screens. Tighten loose electrical connections and replace worn wires and insulation.
Every Three Months Inspect water hoses and connections for rust and other damage. Replace worn electrovalves washers.
Run a test on sequence timer with an oscilloscope or cycle recorder, recalibrating unit, if needed. Inspect entire air system, replacing worn or defective hoses, gages and controls.
Once a Year Clean transformer secondaries with carbon tet and emery cloth. Replace water and air hoses, if necessary. Clean machine cabinet and paint as needed. Check for excess wear in all moving parts. Clean controls.
