Basic Costing Procedure in Gas Welding

Basic Costing Procedure in Gas Welding - Gas welding cost can be calculated in the same manner as has been explained for arc welding except that welding consumables will be different and there will be no power cost.

In general, gas welding cost will be made up of :
(i) Material Cost
It is the cost of workpiece material.

(ii) Preparation Cost
It includes the cost of workpiece edge preparation and proper fit-up before welding.

(iii) Actual Welding Cost
It includes the cost of labour and facilities such as oxygen, acetylene, flux and filler rods.

(iv) Post weld Operations Cost
(a) Cost of removal of slag, spatter, and doing peening etc.
(b) Cost of stress relieving
(v) Cost of finishing/machining the welded joint, if required.
(vi) Overheads, which include the salary of office and supervisory staff, depreciation etc.
