3. Very thin and quite delicate materials, such as foils, can be joined to each other or to heavier sections.
4. Adhesives can ensure smooth, unbroken surface contours without protrusions, gaps or holes.
5. An adhesive seals joints against a variety of environments, insulates against heat, and prevents electrolytic corrosion.
6. Because of the large amount of contact area that usually can be obtained, the total joint strength often compares favourably with that resulting from other methods of attachment.
